DETAILS

Figure in the Landscape I am honored to be connected to the F Holland Day House, an extraordinary workshop location featuring tide pools, woods, interior spaces and sensuous rock coves. The area is steeped in photographic history, especially the Pictorialists. It is as special as the possibilities for this workshop limited to 6 Alumni students or admission with prior approval. Workshop includes three nights lodging, all meals but two, model and location fees and instruction. The class will cover posing, lighting, and the technical issues of working with models and dancers while honing your vision. Enjoy early morning beach walks at nearby Reid State Park or a glass of wine while you edit sitting next to the historical pillars on the cove. Thursday afternoon begins with a photo session examining the body becoming the landscape followed by a welcome dinner prepared by our own chef. There will be multiple photographic sessions Friday and Saturday with figure models and dancers. We''ll end with a critique after breakfast on Sunday. Workshop fee $1025 shared accommodations. $300 deposit to hold your space, balance due June1. Add $30 if using Paypal.

Tuscany, on the back roads Enchanting views, the lone cypress tree and early morning fog drifiting over the rolling hills will beckon us from our agriturismo, Il Poggiolo located on the edge of the charming village San Quirico. We'll winetaste and photograph to music playing among the vines at Il Paradiso di Frassina where there is a chance they will also be harvesting during this week. In Buonconvento, we'll take part in the festivities of Sagra della Val d'Arbia. where the town and ancient doorways are dressed by nature and filled with the village ladies making pici and other Tuscan delicacies. The photographic possibilities are endless. Other days will be spent roaming the white dusty roads or exploring small local villages. There will be days working with models at the roofless Abbey San Galgano and old Tuscan buildings where the light is spectacular. Meals are as memorable as the many doors we pass through in this workshop co-taught with local photographer, Diana Grandi. Come early or stay late in Rome or Florence, your airports of choice. Those beautiful Italians in bike shorts or stilettos have a saying; "Where there is pleasure, there is no losing." Companions welcome.

Workshop includes lodging, breakfast, seven other meals, wine tasting, model and location fees, critiques and two instructors. Diana is local and bilingual and I have been teaching in this area since 1992. Workshop/companion fee $2895/2395 by check and $2975/2465 by paypal. Single supplement $200, my shared rental car $175. $1000 deposit, balance due July 15.
